Elke Shultz
assistant teacher & inclusion aide (she/her)
Elke is elated to be back for her second year at Park West as an Inclusion Aide and expanding her role to Assistant Teacher! While nannying children with ADHD and ASD, she discovered her interests in co-regulation, sensory-play, and neurodivergence. She feels it's an honor to be a young person's support in their first years in a busy classroom, helping them to navigate their own ideas, social dynamics, and differences. Her role is to walk the line between being a helping hand and working for independence with her students, fostering their use in their own autonomy. Park West is a unique place for any kid to start their education, with the extended separation process, close-knit community, and open access to accommodations for all students. Elke loves that she is apart of a team that sees every child as an individual.
She loves going for walks in our city to see birds, buildings, and budding flowers. Reading non-fiction books, crafting anything you can with paper, and developing her film photos are some of her favorite homebody activities. You can ask her about any new fidget toys she's collected, what birds she's been hearing, or any fun facts she's just learned!
