How do I apply for financial aid?
Families seeking financial aid must complete and submit a separate financial aid application along with or
prior to their application for admission to Park West. (You will be asked if you wish to apply for financial
aid when filling out your Park West application for admission.) The financial aid application and supporting
documents go directly to TADS, Park West’s financial aid evaluation service. This organization helps provide
an impartial analysis of each family’s needs. All of these applications are due no later than the Nursery School
Program application deadline. The financial aid application deadline is extremely important, as awards are granted
from a set pool of funds. Hence, if your application is submitted after the deadline, it will be considered only against
remaining funds after other awards have been granted.
Please note that no application will be deemed to be complete unless accompanied by copies of:
- The family's past year's Federal Income Tax Form(s) 1040b
- All accompanying schedules thereto
- All related W-2 forms
If either parent is self-employed, business tax returns are also required. All of these documents and any information the families share with TADS and Park West Cooperative Nursery School are kept confidential.
Applicants may also be required to submit any other relevant financial documentation requested by the school.
Park West Cooperative Nursery School's director, board president and board administrator will then review all applications and grant awards at the time admissions are determined and communicated. This process is confidential and only the director, office manager, board president and board administrator know the names of families seeking financial aid.
Should I apply for financial aid?
Park West Cooperative Nursery School annual financial aid decisions are based on financial need.
Who is eligible for financial aid?
Financial aid is available to all eligible families attending the regular Park West Cooperative Nursery School programs. Summer Camp and the Parent/Toddler programs are excluded.
Only assisting families are eligible for financial aid except in the case of the Junior Kindergarten program.
Financial aid recipients do not assume any additional financial responsibilities at the school. Families on financial aid will be given two complimentary tickets to the spring gala.
Families must reapply for financial aid each year. The amount of financial aid awarded may change from year to year depending on possible changes in a family's financial situation, the number of financial aid applicants, and the amount allocated in Park West's operating budget for financial aid.
In cases of divorce or separation, the custodial parent is required to complete the required financial aid applications. Non-custodial parents who are responsible for tuition payments and/or child support may also be required to submit financial information.
How large are the grants?
Park West Cooperative Nursery School, in its sole discretion, will set aside a pre-determined amount for financial aid each year. The board of directors may re-evaluate financial aid each year.
The Park West Cooperative Nursery School director, board president and board administrator determine the actual grant amounts per applicant.
What happens if my family has a financial emergency during the school year?
Families may apply for financial aid at any time if they encounter unexpected financial difficulties. The Park West Cooperative Nursery School director, board president and board administrator may petition the board for additional funds in the case of such emergencies if all funds have already been allocated for the year.
Similarly, it is expected that families receiving financial aid whose financial circumstances dramatically improve during the year inform the school so that proper adjustments can be made.
Am I required to repay Park West?
No. Financial aid is awarded as a grant. There is no repayment obligation. Still, as mentioned above, families whose financial circumstances dramatically improve during the year should inform the school so that proper adjustments can be made.
Who do I contact for information about financial aid?
The school director and board administrator have all the information about the program. Only the director or administrator of Park West Cooperative Nursery School will discuss confidential information with applicant families.
What happens if I am granted an award, but the balance of tuition is still a hardship for our family?
The Park West Administrator will work individually with families to create a payment plan schedule that meets the needs of each family.
