The Board Of Directors
The cooperative is managed by the Board of Directors (please refer to your class list for current Board Members and their contact information). The Executive officers are nominated and elected by the returning parent body each spring.

There are seven executive officers: President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, Administrator, Legal Advisor, and House-Committee chairperson. All of these officers are encouraged to serve a two-year term. The remainder of the Board is made up by the Standing Committee Chairpersons.

The board meets monthly throughout the school year, usually on the second Tuesday evening of each month. All members of the cooperative are welcome at every board meeting. If you are interested in serving on the Board, please contact the President.

The Standing Committees
There are seven standing committees that help operate the school: Membership, Education, Publicity, Special Events, Personnel, Social, and Technology. Each committee generally has two co-chairs who are appointed by the President in the spring. The make-up of the various committees is also determined by the President each spring.

Here is a basic outline of the committee functions & responsibilities:
  1. Membership Committee: Responsible for the annual admissions lottery, organizes open houses for prospective parents, and helps determine financial aid eligibility. Committee members generally have been at the school for at least a year.
  2. Education Committee: Maintains the school library, organizes special events like the annual book fair and plate making project.
  3. Publicity Committee: Prepares publicity material for school activities and special events.
  4. Special Events Committee: Raises funds for school operating expenses.
  5. Social Committee: Organizes and oversees social event for the school membership, including the annual trike-a-thon; organizes food for school events.
  6. Personnel Committee: Assists Director in all school personnel issues. Prepares staff contracts.
  7. Technology Committee: Oversees all technology-related issues at the school.
All Park West parents are required to serve on either the board of directors, a committee, or work as a room parent each school year. Failure to actively participate can result in a fine.
