Guidelines & Criteria For Distribution Of Financial Aid
  1. How do I apply for financial aid?
  2. Families who have been admitted to Park West and are seeking financial aid must complete a Park West Application for Financial Aid and return it to the School Director. Please note that no application will be deemed to be complete unless accompanied by copies of:
    (a) The family’s past year’s Federal Income Tax Form(s) 1040.
    (b) All accompanying schedules thereto.
    (c) All related W-2 forms.
    (d) If either parent is self-employed, business tax returns are also required.
    (e) Applicants may also be required to submit any other relevant financial documentation requested by Park West.

All these documents and any information the families share with Park West are kept confidential.

Families are also required to submit an application to the Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS) in Princeton, New Jersey. This organization helps provide an impartial analysis of each family’s needs. A copy of this application must also be filed with Park West.

All of these applications are due two weeks after formal notification of acceptance to Park West.

The Park West Director and Membership Committee Co-Chairs will then review all applications and grant awards as soon as possible after school admissions are determined. This process is confidential and only the Director and the Administrator know the names of families seeking financial aid.

  3. Should I apply for financial aid?
  4. Park West annual financial aid decisions are based on financial need.

  5. Who is eligible for financial aid?
  6. Financial aid is available to all eligible families attending the regular Park West programs. Summer Camp and the Parent/Toddler programs are excluded.

Only assisting families are eligible for financial aid except in the case of the Junior Kindergarten program. Financial aid recipients do not assume additional responsibilities at the school, but have the same responsibilities as other members of the coop.

Families must reapply for financial aid each year. The amount of financial aid can change from year to year depending on possible changes in a family financial situation and number of financial aid applicants.

In cases of divorce or separation, the custodial parent is required to complete the required financial aid applications. Non-custodial parents who are responsible for tuition payments and/or child support may also be required to submit financial information.

  7. How large are the grants?
  8. Park West in its sole discretion will set aside a pre-determined amount for financial aid each year. The Board of Directors may re-evaluate financial aid each year.

The School Director and Membership Co-Chairs determine the actual grant amounts per applicant. These amounts range from partial to full tuition.

  9. What happens if my family has a financial emergency during the school year?
  10. Families may apply for financial aid at any time if they encounter unexpected financial difficulties. The School Director and Membership Committee Co-Chairs may petition the board for additional funds in the case of such emergencies.

Similarly, it is expected that families receiving financial aid whose financial circumstances dramatically improve during the year inform the school so that proper adjustments can be made.

  11. Am I required to repay Park West?
  12. No. Financial aid is awarded as a grant. There is no repayment obligation. Still, as mentioned above, families whose financial circumstances dramatically improve during the year should inform the school so that proper adjustments can be made.

  13. Who do I contact for information about financial aid?
  14. The Board President, School Director and Membership Co-Chairs have all the information about the program. Only the Director of Park West will discuss confidential information with applicant families.
